2013 Current Issues in Perinatal Care Conference: A Focus on the At-Risk Mother and Baby

Monday, December 9, 2013

Cox South, Foster Auditorium

3801 S. National Ave.

Springfield, MO 65807

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION AND TARGET AUDIENCE

The 2013 Current Issues in Perinatal Care Conference will bring together a variety of speakers discussing a wide range of topics that support current evidence-based practice for practioners who care for mothers and babies in the prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, and intensive care nursery settings. This year’s conference features a multidisciplinary group of presenters and a list of topics relevant to perinatal nurses, nurse practioners, ancillary staff, and physicians. The agenda has been designed to help support your current practice with information you need to improve your skill, deepen your understanding, and improve your patient’s outcomes.

The morning session of the conference will discuss interventions to improve outcomes for the late preterm infant, as well as equip attendees to enhance their advanced newborn assessment skills. Additionally, expert faculty will discuss the comprehensive care of mothers and babies with substance abuse, as well as the short and long-term effects for the newborn.

The afternoon session will prepare attendees to increase their competency of treating the pregnant teenage patient and her family through medical, developmental, and emotional perspectives. Finally, individuals will learn how to integrate Baby Friendly principles into their personal nursing practice and their organization.

Attendees can leave this conference equipped with necessary information that, if implemented, may improve patient outcomes. Nurses and all other health care professionals responsible for the care of obstetric patients and newborns are encouraged to attend.
