Share 2013-2014 Learning Program Online - Level 1

Event Details

We are pleased to invite you to participate in 2013-2014 LP Online, the online learning community based on DSF’s The Learning Program™. The Learning Program™ utilizes current research on best practices and effective teaching strategies to improve educational outcomes for children with Down syndrome.  For more information, visit www.dsfoc.org.

 

The LP Online will consist of ten sessions from our Level 1 class offered through Webex seminars in live and recorded formats.  Level 1 is for parents of children with Down syndrome between 3 and 6 years of age who are interested in support with vocabulary expansion, sight word acquisition, sentence building, personalized materials, and early number concepts.  


PROGRAM DATES/TIMES:  All live sessions are broadcast at 9:30 a.m. PST

NOTE:  Program dates are subject to change with reasonable notice, but all sessions will be available in live and recorded format.  

 

Caveat – These program sessions are the same as those sessions which will be offered this year through our fifteen Learning Program Partners nationwide.  If you are already participating in a Learning Program, LP Online presentations will use the same topics and materials.  Similarly, some of the sessions have been offered at the NDSC Conference and other conferences nationwide.

 

Tuition includes access to webex seminar, access to recording, acess to Wikispaces site with instructional handouts.  Literacy and math materials are available through our online store (www.dsfoc.com/store) at a discounted rate for program participants.  Free access to most materials is available through our website.

We believe in the civil rights of people with Down syndrome.  Protecting and promoting the rights of people with Down syndrome expands independence and choice. 

We believe in inclusion. Including people with Down syndrome in neighborhood schools, community activities and the business world benefits both the individuals and their respective communities.

We believe that knowledge empowers. By sharing information regarding best practices, current research and effective tools, we serve both people with Down syndrome and those who support them. 

We believe in collaboration. Working with Down syndrome groups and community partners on the local, state, national and international levels enhances our ability to serve people with Down syndrome.

Our Work -  DSF is most well known for its innovative work in developing and implementing The Learning Program.Guided by an expert Advisory Board as to evidence-based approaches to teaching children with Down syndrome, The Learning Program™ has become a nationally-recognized model for parent-focused educational intervention.  Preschools and elementary schools have also begun to recognize the program’s value and resources.
