2011 Tunnel Webinar

What is dynamic heat testing and why is it so important?

Factory testing is frequently performed to provide proof of a fan’s aerodynamic performance, efficiency, and sound output. Performance testing provides assurance that the fan will deliver the specifiedair volume and produce the pressure necessary to adequately ventilate the tunnel. Given today’s high cost of power, fan efficiency is of ever increasing importance as we strive to Go Green.

Particularly for fans situated in an urban environment, sound generation and abatement is an issue that must be addressed prior to the fan leaving the factory. If testing indicates greater than anticipated sound levels, prior to installation adjustments or alterations can be accomplished at the factory with relative ease, which would be practically impossible in the field.

Although the importance of the above tests goes without question, none of these nor many of the other contractually required factory tests prove or disprove the fans sustainability.  That is, many so called destructive tests may simply fall short of providing proof positive that a fan will survive for the length of time necessary to evacuate a tunnel during a fire.

Don’t leave something this serious up to chance. Join us on Thursday February 17 at 2pm EST as we explore “What is dynamic heat testing and why is it so important?”.
