Sponsored and hosted by the Indiana Commission for Women, the 2011 Torchbearer Awards are the State of Indiana’s most prestigious recognition of women. Indiana Torchbearers are those women who have stepped forward in all areas of society to carry the light for women. They have led the ways for others by breaking down barriers to women’s full participation and have become true beacons of light by overcoming challenges that all women face with courage, perseverance and compassion and by creating lasting legacies that serve as an inspiration for all.
In light of the activities taking place in our Statehouse over the past few weeks, the Indiana Commission for Women has been advised to move the 2011 Torchbearer Awards Ceremony. The Torchbearers Awards Ceremony is a “once in a lifetime” special recognition of the recipients so in deference to all of our torchbearers, dignitaries and guests, we think that moving the event is the best decision to make at this time. The date and time stay the same and the location is almost the same. We will still be on the Government Center Complex; however, instead of the Statehouse, the 2011 Torchbearer Awards Ceremony will be in the Indiana Government South Center building. The public entrance is on Washington Street. There will be a security checkpoint.
The Torchbearer Awards will be held at the Indiana Government Center Auditorium
(302 West Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN) on Wednesday, March 9, 2011.
Registration will begin at 3:30 p.m. with the Awards Ceremony beginning at 4:00 p.m. There will be a reception immediately following in the Rotunda.

When & Where
Indiana Commission for Women
The Indiana Commission for Women is committed to the full participation of women in all aspects of society in order to live, work and raise a family. ICW works to move Indiana women forward by understanding the needs of Indiana women and their families and by working strategically both within government and in our communities to help bring about positive solutions. We act as the voice of women, communicating their needs and concerns as well as their successes and contributions, so that they can become better connected to their communities and to the tools, resources and opportunities needed to find their own voice.
