SSFC Fly Fishing School Overview
SSFC is delighted to be hosting a 2-day saltwater fly fishing school with Chris Kokorda. This immersive course is perfect for the beginner to the intermediate angler, whether you're looking to catch your first striped bass on the fly or take your skills to the next level.
This 2-day program will cover the following topics:
- How to choose gear, from line, rod and reel, to additional equipment and accessories
- Knot tying discussion and practice
- How to read water, current, and tides
- Striper feeding habits
- Fly casting techniques, from shooting line to the double haul
- Practice time and hands-on casting instruction
- Fly selection and how to fish different types of flies
- How to play, land, and safely release fish
- Introduction to wading safety and trip planning
*Lunch will be provided each day to all students.
Instructor Bio - Chis Kokorda
For the past 15 years, Chris Kokorda has been a shore guide, casting instructor, and fly tyer on Cape Cod. Growing up, Chris honed his fly fishing skills by exploring the waters of Connecticut. In 2006, his passion for fly fishing led him to Massachusetts where he managed the Orvis fly shop, Fishing the Cape. There, he gained experience as a professional guide and fly casting instructor. For the better part of the last decade, he has served as head instructor of the Orvis Cape Cod Saltwater School, currently hosted at Chatham Bars Inn. Chris strives to master his craft, and continues to dedicate his creative pursuits to the art and sport of fly fishing and custom fly tying.
