2 Day Cybersecurity Skills Bootcamp I for Youths Aged 13-16

About this Event

This is Part 1 of our hands-on cyber skills bootcamp for youths between aged between 13-16 to pick up real world cyber skills and to promote their interest in cyber security technologies. It will be a fun and fast paced program where youths will learn about the latest Linux, web security and windows security technologies. There will be lots of hands-on lab exercises so that youths do not just learn the theory but will also have practical experience to security tools and technologies. It will start with one and a half days of intensive training and end with an exciting Capture the Flag(CTF) Competition on the last part of the class.

This class is ideal for upper primary and secondary school youths who are passionate to learn deep cyber skills and/or considering studying IT or Information Security/Cyber Security in Polytechnics.

All participants will be awarded Certificates of Participation.

Course Details:

  • Date: 17th – 18th March 2021
  • Timing: 9am – 12pm, 1:30-4:30pm Daily
  • (Please bring or buy your own lunch for the break from 12 pm to 1.30 pm)
  • Format: Live In Person

Ethical Hacking Process and Technologies

  • Rules of engagements
  • Process and methodologies

2. Linux Security Concepts (Day 1 Part 2)

Orientation to Linux Command Line

  • Navigating in Linux – listing files and folders, identifying the current directory and moving around, creating, moving and deleting files, piping
  • Text editors and manipulating text – touch, nano, vi, tr, grep, regex, wc
  • File permission and sudo – chmod

Lab Exercises: Linux Security Tools and Tips

  • Establishing connection – netcat
  • SSH
  • Hashing – md5sum, sha1sum
  • Pentesting using Metasploit

3. Web Security Concepts (Day 2)

Recon and information gathering

  • Introduction to web technologies: HTML, CSS and Javascripts
  • Internetworking and Web Infrastructure: Web Servers, HTTP(s), DNS
  • SQL and Databases
  • Input injection (Command and SQL injection attacks)
  • Javascript-based attacks and countermeasures

Lab Exercises: Generic command injection exploit

  • Cross site scripting examples
  • Command injection exercises

4. Individual Capture the Flag(CTF) Challenge (Day 2 Part 2)

  • Capture the flag briefing and rules
  • Capture the flag Competition starts
  • Debrief, Award Presentation and End

  • Refund Policy: Kindly note that there will be no refund once payment is made.

In the event that you can't make it, please inform us via email to training@blockcyber.tech at least 5 calendar days before class starts. We will then keep your payment records to be used in another class. In the event the class is cancelled on our side, we will give you full refunds. Please note there is a minimum class size of 6 to start.

Pre-requisites:

  • Student does not need to have any coding background, even though some Python or Robotics programming may help.
  • Student should be able to use a laptop proficiently and be able to type words comfortably using Microsoft word or any other text processor.
  • Student needs to bring his/her own laptop with power adaptor and mouse. Laptop requirements are as follows: Any Windows laptop or Macbook with at least i5 CPU Processor, 8GB RAM, 50GB spare Hard disk space and have student should have admin access to install virtual machines.
  • As student may be exposed to ethical hacking skills, he/she will be required to sign a code of ethics on the first day of class.
