2017-2018

Join Kern Autism Network-Autism Society Affiliate in our newest approach at providing up to date information to families, educators, therapist, SLP, MFT, LSW, doctors and community at large.  These series of seminars will occur throughout the 2017-2018 school year with speakers in the field of autism expertise, with topics meant to address the entire autism spectrum as defined by the DSM-5.  

Our 1st Seminar Series Speaker:

Emily Luxford-RD

Samsun Clinic-Santa Barbara, CA

"The Benefits of Pro-biotics for Autism"

 

 

Bio: Emily is a registered dietitian with a Master's degree in Nutritional Science. She has experience as a credentialed elementary school teacher and has also taught nutrition at California State University, Long Beach. Beyond the classroom, she has developed and published research regarding dietary modification. Over the years, she has provided individualized nutrition therapy at various hospitals and clinics. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Celiac Disease Foundation and, more specifically, chairs the Allied Health Committee. Most recently, she has expanded her practice to help the general community achieve nutrition wellness.  

Light Continental Breakfast will be served with doors opening at 8:00 a.m. for check-in and seminar starting promptly at 9:00 a.m.  No children please.  CEU's are pending for SLP.

The Autism Society Chapter -Kern Autism Network (KAN) is a non-profit organization of parents, grandparents, professionals, and other individuals that have an interest in autism. The organization is completely operated under an all-volunteer board with no paid staff.  Our mission statement:

"Autism Society Chapter -Kern Autism Network provides support, awareness, information and education to families, professionals and the public throughout Kern County. We work towards cooperation, coordination and the creation of services between individuals and agencies. We strive for advocacy, research, education and inclusion for individuals challenged with autism."
