1st Annual South Loop Women's Tea
Saturday, March 9, 2013 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM (CST)
Celebrating Women's History Month! Honoring women in the South Loop who are pioneering roles models.
In communities around the United State, National Women’s History Month provides an opportunity to share the significant role of women in American history and contemporary society, and to recognize women who have been instrumental in their local communities. Join us as we celebrate the women of the South Loop and honor one of our own as South Loop Woman of the Year. This year's Woman of the Year is Gina Ferguson. Read about Gina here.
Women and girls of all ages are welcome. Come prepared to eat and drink a traditional afternoon tea with finger sandwiches, sweets, fruits and a variety of tea options.
Presented by Overflow Coffee Bar and Daystar Center.
Sponsored by Greater South Loop Association.
What to Expect
3:00 - start arriving, drinking tea (we can't resist, there will be coffee too), eating yummy foods, and getting to know the other ladies who will be here
3:30 - Award ceremony begins. If you know the award recipient, think of a 3 minute story of how she's inspired you. Come ready to share if you'd like.
4:00ish - Award ceremony concludes. More eating, drinking, community building, chitchatting, etc. We're women so we expect there to be lots of fun talking to each other!
5:00 - We have to kick everyone out and into the main coffee shop space because we'll start setting up for a theatre event to begin at 8:00pm.
Because of Gina's passion for organ donation, any money leftover after covering the costs of food, drink, etc. will be donated to the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois.
