Event description
A special night of dancing, making memories and raising hope for those with SMA!

About this event

Wine Tasting & Silent Auction

This November we will be celebrating our 1st Annual Faces of SMA Wine Tasting and Silent Auction. Due to Covid 19 concerns, attendance will be reduced.

Join other revelers and supporters for an evening of hors d'oeuvres, music, dancing, wine tasting, wine pull and silent auction! It will be a special night of making memories and raising hope. Attendees will learn more about SMA while members of the SMA community will enjoy a night of support and comradery.

Offer your support by purchasing tickets, serving as a sponsor or volunteer or donating auction items. Then enjoy a night supporting those affected by SMA. With your help, we can make a real difference and have an amazing (and delicious) night of fun at the same time.

Who is Kaiden?

The smile that lights up any room belongs to Kaiden. He is a bright, happy six year old loving life and causing kid mischief. Diagnosed at six months with SMA Type 1, he is affected by his illness but not defined by it. He is the inspiration behind our mission of spreading awareness and helping others in their fight with SMA.

What is SMA?

SMA is a disease that robs people of physical strength by affecting the motor nerve cells in the spinal cord, taking away the ability to walk, eat, or breathe. It is the leading genetic cause of death in infants, affecting approximately 1 in 10,000 babies, and about 1 in 50 Americans is a genetic carrier.

It's a energizing time in the SMA community. On December 23, 2016, the FDA approved of the first-ever therapy for SMA, Spinraza. Just over 4 years later and we now have three approved therapies! However, our work is not done. We must continue to develop and deliver effective therapies that will change the course of SMA for everyone affected — from infants to adults — and eventually lead to a cure. We are excited to be supporting essential research.

With your help, we can make a real difference !

Organizer The Fighting for Kaiden Foundation

Organizer of 1st Annual Faces of SMA Wine Tasting and Silent Auction

The Fighting for Kaiden Foundation is a non-profit organization committed to enhancing the lives of those struggling with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) on multiple fronts. SMA is a disease that robs people of physical strength by affecting the motor nerve cells in the spinal cord, taking away the ability to walk, eat, or breathe. It causes progressive weakness until the body simply cannot continue. SMA is the number one genetic cause of death for infants.

Directly, we strive to raise awareness of the disease on the local, regional and national levels. Our foundation provides need-based financial support to affected families for equipment, travel, and in the future, life changing medications. We understand the value of peer support and organize support groups and information for SMA affected families in our area.

Through the national organization, Cure SMA, we provide directed donations for medical research in addition to medical equipment and services for SMA patients across the country.

Our goals are driven by our devotion to improving the lives and finding a cure for those with Spinal Muscular Atrophy.
