Event description

Description

Yellow Rose Foundation, a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) public charity, in collaboration with Zonta Club of Mid-Maryland, a nonprofit, 501(c)(4) charity, is sponsoring its inaugural “Stepping Out Against Domestic Violence and Abuse” 5K Walk/Run on September 28, 2019, at the National Harbor.

Our goal in hosting the 5K Walk/Run Event is to advocate against violence and abuse against women, children, and human trafficking. We want to raisie awareness to these issues that affect so many in our community. Also, we want to offer encouragement, emotional support, and hope to survivors impacted as a result of human trafficking, domestic violence, and domestic abuse.

This 5K/3.1Mile Walk/Run event will take place on the Woodrow Wilson Bridge Trail, 7200 MGM National Avenue, Oxon Hill, MD, 20745.

The hosts of the event will be the members of the Zonta Club of Mid-Maryland, which is a local club of Zonta International, with headquarters in Oak Brook, IL, USA, a leading global organization of professionals empowering women worldwide through service and advocacy.

The Zonta Club of Mid-Maryland was chartered in 2016. Since then we have worked to advance the status of women through service projects and through advocacy. One of our major projects addresses the issue of domestic violence by supporting legislation and policies that impact victims.
