The 1st AIC Innovation Day will give Austrian start-ups, companies, and academics an opportunity to learn about the innovative and entrepreneurial spirit Silicon Valley. Speakers from start-ups, venture capitalists, analysts, academia, law offices etc. will highlight the culture and spirit of the valley through looking at diversity, innovation, creativity, risk, and other values that make the Silicon Valley to the most innovative location on the planet.
Austrian start-ups, companies, and academia will be able to network and get a first foothold into the Silicon Valley.
The event is organized by the Austrian Innovation Center Silicon Valley. The number of seats is strictly limited, and will sell out quickly.

As Senior Vice President and General Manager for Western Union Digital, Khalid Fellahi is responsible for ensuring the continued growth and global expansion of Western Union in the digital space, including the strategy, operations and P&L for www.westernunion.com and Mobile Money Transfer. He is based in San Francisco.
Fellahi, who joined Western Union in 2002 as Regional Director for North Africa, was previously head of the Mobile Transaction Services group (2010). He also held several senior regional positions at Western Union, including the role of Senior Vice President for Africa from 2005 to 2010, where he was responsible for 51 countries with more than 20,000 Agent locations.
Prior to working at Western Union, Fellahi held roles within SIS-Groupe Compagnie Bancaire (Paribas) and Price Waterhouse Management Consultants. In addition, he has held senior leadership positions at small and medium enterprises in the service industry.
A Moroccan-French national, Fellahi has an engineering degree from the National Institute of Applied Sciences in France (INSA-Lyon) with a major in Information Technology, and an MBA from INSEAD.
Frederik had immersed himself in computer science and business at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), then relocated to Berlin, where he gained experience creating viral marketing campaigns with vm-people.
Before joining startup Swipp, Frederik was part of the initial team launching Austrian telecommunications company JAJAH spearheading its marketing and public relations efforts from launch in 2005 to acquisition by Telefónica/O2 in 2009. Subsequently he also worked with JAJAH co-founder Roman Scharf on launching and growing social media engagement entity Talenthouse.
He has found his new home and family in Silicon Valley and enjoys being part of its vibrant startup culture.
Gil is passionate about helping Israeli entrepreneurs that build their startups between Israel and Silicon Valley, offering advice and sometimes a spot on his living room couch.
In 2005, he joined Yahoo!’s Corporate Development group, working on strategy & acquisitions, as well as managing the relationships with the Israeli ecosystem of investors, entrepreneurs and startups. In this role, he led the acquisition of Yahoo!’s first Israel-based startup (FoxyTunes) and helped to open the company’s first R&D center in Haifa. Gil then transitioned to the role of VP of Operations Management, driving the business aspects for the tech infrastructure organization. He left Yahoo! during the summer of 2011 to dedicate his time to his new venture, UpWest Labs.
Gil was previously a consultant with the Boston Consulting Group in New York, where he advised Fortune 500 companies. Gil holds a BA in Economics & Business Administration from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and an MBA with Honors from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Outside of work, Gil enjoys going to live music performances (Coachella Music Festival his annual highlight). He is also an avid sports fan, and though soccer is top of his list, he will pretty much watch anything that has a ball and/or timer involved.

Dev Patnaik is the CEO and Managing Associate of Jump Associates. He is a trusted advisor to senior executives at some of world's most admired companies, including General Electric, Procter & Gamble, Target and Hewlett-Packard. When he's not at Jump, Dev moonlights down the road at Stanford University as an adjunct professor, where he teaches innovation methods to design and business school students.
A frequent speaker at business forums, Dev was featured on CNBC’s “The Business of Innovation.” His articles on innovation and strategy have appeared in several leading publications, including BusinessWeek, Fast Company, and Brandweek. He is the author of Wired to Care, a critically acclaimed book about the connection between empathy and business growth. Dev has participated in several Iditarod sled dog races, often without his knowledge.

Lisa SolomonLisa Kay Solomon teaches innovation and venture studio at the groundbreaking MBA in Design Strategy program at San Francisco's California College of the Arts. Building on her background in experience design, scenario planning, and business strategy, Lisa is passionate about helping leaders think originally and expansively about the future, and their role in creating it. She has brought her "Innovation Tradecraft " to executive teams in diverse organizations, such as Herman Miller Inc., Toyota Financial Services, Citrix, Stanford's Media X, and the Kauffman Fellows Program. She also works with educators to bring innovation and discovery skills into primary education through teacher and student workshops. Lisa has lectured at such leading business schools as Stanford University, University of California Berkeley, Cornell University, and the University of Virginia and has been published in Design Management Review, Businessweek.com, and on prominent blogs including Duarte Design and Watermark for Exceptional Women.
She is the coauthor of the forthcoming book Moments of Impact: Designing Strategic Conversations that Matter (Simon & Schuster, 2013) with Chris Ertel, which describes how to apply design principles to high-stakes, open ended strategic challenges. Lisa holds an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business and a BA from Cornell University. She lives in Menlo Park with her husband and two daughters.
Rainer Cvillink is a 20-year Electronic Media veteran with work experience in both US and Europe and he is bilingual in English and German (German is my first language). His core abilities are to create content, get the word out and lead people.
He worked for the ORF (Austrian Broadcasting Corporation) and is currently with the Mozilla Corporation.
