Event description

Description

The event is running during Mental Health Week and the theme is 'Sharing stories, changing lives'. Wellways has a long and valued history of people sharing their experience of mental health issues and disability as a way of creating community awareness and social change.

We are delighted to announce Uncle Jack Charles as our keynote speaker. An inspirational and passionate orator, Jack Charles informs and encourages people to examine aspects of their life and society to seek opportunities for transformation and growth. By sharing his experiences, he has become a valuable mentor and positive role model to others.

In addition, there will be a Q&A session with a panel of mental health experts, chaired by Wellways CEO Elizabeth Crowther. The panellists are
Neil Thomas, Associate Professor of Psychology, Swinburne University of Technology; Laura Collister, Director of Mental Health Services at Wellways, and Ben Matthews, Wellways Peer Services Manager.

Following the lecture, please join us for refreshments. A chance to meet with Jack Charles and the panel participants, and discover how Wellways are connecting with our communities by providing platforms for storytelling.
