Cantil-Sakauye, Chief Justice of California, the Korean American Bar Association of Southern California and Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP at the JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. Live Hotel during our 19th Annual Access to Justice Dinner.

The Maynard Toll Award for Distinguished Public Service will be presented to Chief Justice Cantil-Sakauye, for her dedication to equal justice and promoting language access in the courts of California. The Access to Justice Award will be presented to the Korean American Bar Association of Southern California (KABA), for their decades of work supporting underserved communities in Los Angeles. Sheppard Mullin will receive the Pro Bono Law Firm Award in recognition of their pro bono support this past year.

LAFLA, the frontline law firm for poor people in Los Angeles County, is the first place people living in poverty turn to when legal problems threaten their homes, health and livelihoods. Each day, scores of individuals and families who face systemic barriers to equal justice, equal opportunity and, too often, basic human rights come to one of LAFLA’s five neighborhood legal offices, three courthouse domestic violence clinics and four courthouse Self-Help Legal Centers.

To sponsor the Access to Justice Dinner, download our sponsorship form.

Last year, LAFLA’s attorneys, paralegals, social workers and support staff, aided by a network of supporters and volunteers, provided services including direct representation and community education to more than 80,000 people.

The Access to Justice Dinner has raised more than $8 million over its 18-year history to help sustain these vital programs and services. Your participation in the 2017 Access to Justice Dinner ensures that LAFLA’s poverty law specialists continue to advocate for those who need them most.
