Propagating by cutting or division is easy, and often more dependable and quicker than starting plants from seed.
Plant propagation is an incredibly useful skill for the home gardener. Unlike when starting plants from seed, dividing or taking cuttings creates a genetic clone of the mother plant, allowing you to maintain particularly productive phenotypes or simply multiply plants in the absence of seed.
This hour and a half long class will cover:
- How to divide plants
- How to take cuttings from different outdoor plants (herbs, vining plants, succulents, trees/woody plants)
- Application/necessity of rooting hormone
- The use of different mediums for propagation of cuttings (sphagnum moss, coco/perlite, starter plugs, perlite, peat, etc)
- Curating a the proper environment for propagation
- Transitioning rooted cuttings to a permanent home
You will come away from this class with your own humidome and cuttings from a variety of plants ready to root!
