Tap into your cookie decorating skills and enjoy your day at the Annual Dahlia Festival!

Dahlia-Inspired Floral Cookie Bouquet Workshop Taught by Food Network-Featured Cookie Artist Anna Oliinyk

Participants will create a set of hand-decorated floral cookies inspired by dahlias and other seasonal blooms. During the class, each guest will learn the basics of working with royal icing, including floral consistency control, icing color techniques, and floral piping techniques using petal and leaf tips. The instructor will demonstrate each step, and then guide participants as they decorate their own cookies.

Each participant will decorate 4–6 floral cookies and arrange them into a small edible bouquet to take home. The class is designed to be relaxing, creative, and accessible — no prior cookie decorating experience is required.

The class can be adapted in complexity and pace depending on the audience, and designs can be simplified or expanded as needed.

What participants will do:
• Learn basic royal icing handling and piping for floral cookies
• Practice floral piping techniques inspired by dahlias and garden flowers
• Decorate and assemble their own floral cookie bouquet

What participants will take home:
• A finished edible floral cookie bouquet (4–6 cookies)
• New decorating skills they can reuse at home

Appropriate age group:
• Best for ages 12 and up
• Teens are welcome with an accompanying adult
• Adult-focused class, but family-friendly

About the Artist: Anna Oliinyk is a professional cookie artist and instructor based in Portland, Oregon, and the founder of Sunday Cookers. She specializes in hand-piped floral and sculptural cookie designs inspired by nature, flowers, and fine art.

Originally from Ukraine, Anna began decorating cookies in 2015 as a creative project for her children, and it soon grew into a full-time artistic practice. Since then, she has taught hundreds of students through in-person workshops and online classes in multiple languages, helping people of all skill levels discover the joy of edible art.

Anna is known for her detailed floral piping, realistic 3D cookie designs, and her warm, encouraging teaching style that helps beginners feel confident while still inspiring more advanced decorators. Her work has been featured on national television and recognized in international competitions, but her greatest joy is watching students feel proud of what they create. Anna has competed on Food Network's Holiday Wars.

She now teaches locally in Oregon and loves sharing creative, hands-on experiences that connect art, food, and community.
