The 17th Biennial Neuman Systems Model Symposium

Walsh University and Malone University are pleased to invite you to this 17th Biennial Neuman Systems Model Symposium. Nurses and healthcare professionals from around the world will have the opportunity to engage in dialogue, learning, and discovery. Please consider joining us!

Conference Activities

June 20, 2019 - Walsh University Global Learning Center
Thursday Evening, 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Thursday evening focuses on celebrating our Founder, Dr. Betty Neuman through activities designed to foster connection with colleagues. Participants will hear from Dr. Neuman and celebrate her influence on all those who use the model around the world.

  • Come bid for items in the Silent Auction: The silent auction includes articles available from around the world and various regions of the United States. Proceeds support the Trustee research, practice and education awards. Contact mcook@walsh.edu for more information or to donate items.

  • Enjoy Refreshments and music: Meet and greet fellow attendees.

  • Participate in the World Cafe: A World Café or Knowledge Café is a structured conversational process for knowledge sharing using a less formal, roundtable discussion method. Participants will be able to attend three 20 minute sessions, learn new exciting information and get to know other participants.

Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Friday’s focus highlights the use of the Neuman Systems Model in population health. Podium presentations, panel discussions and posters will all provide attendees a wealth of opportunities to learn and Share how the Neuman Systems Model influences thoughts, values and actions.

Highlights of the Day:

  • Keynote Speaker: Dr. Erin Maughan
    Director of Research, National Association of School Nurses
    Dr. Maughan
    co-led the creation of NASN’s Framework for 21st Century School Nursing Practice™. She is passionate about addressing the needs of vulnerable populations through research and improving children’s health around the world.

  • Plenary Speaker: Dr. Jacqueline Fawcett
    Professor, University of Massachusetts, Boston
    Dr. Fawcett is recognized nationally and internationally for her meta-theoretical work in nursing. Her latest focus is on the development of a conceptual model of nursing and population health.
