What are my transport/parking options? The historic Herbst Theater is located near San Francisco's Civic Center. This central area is easily accessible by public transportation. We highly recommend that you arrive by BART, bus, or other public transporation means. The closest BART station is Civic Center, a four-minute walk away.
If you are driving, we recommend one of these two nearby parking garages: Performing Arts Garage: 360 Grove Street | Civic Center Plaza Garage: 355 McAllister Street
What can/can't I bring to the event? No food or drinks are allowed inside the theater. Cameras and camera phones are allowed, but we request that you do not use flash when taking pictures.
Is there a dress code? Some attendees wear formal attire, but business casual is fine.
Who can I contact with any questions? Please contact Earth Island Institute at email@example.com.
Is my registration/ticket transferrable? Your registration is not transferrable. The Awards ceremony is a free event however, so encourage any others to use this sign up form here at Eventbrite to be added to the attendee list.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event? We do not issue paper or electronic tickets for this event; your name and that of your guests will be at will-call. Check-in tables are located in the Herbst Theater lobby.
Do I need to arrive and check in with my guests, or can we arrive separately? Simply provide us with the first and last names of your guests when RSVPing here at Eventbrite and we'll be able to check you in spearately. Also, if you give us an email address for your guests, we can make sure to send them event reminders in the days leading up to the event. Thank you!
PS a final reminder: Contributions to Earth Island Institute, a 501(c)(3) organization, are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law. Host Committee donors may deduct the full value of their contribution, except for $75 per Opening Reception ticket, which is our estimate of the fair market value for the food and entertainment provided at Brower Youth Awards. Our IRS Form 990 and Audit are available on our website at www.earthisland.org. Earth Island Institute’s tax ID number is 94-2889684.
When & Where
Earth Island Institute
(EII) is a non-profit, public interest, membership organization that supports people who are creating solutions to protect our shared planet. We were founded in 1982 by pioneering environmental leader David Brower.
EII is engaged in three core areas of work: serving as an organizational hub for more than 70 solutions-focused projects from the Bay Area to Borneo through our Project Support program (visit www.eii.org/whatis to see how this model works); growing the next generation of bold leaders through our New Leaders Initiative and its annual Brower Youth Awards (www.broweryouthawards.org); and informing and inspiring action with our award-winning quarterly Earth Island Journal, our free e-newsletter IslandWire, and our daily earthislandjournal.org news updates.
