Description

The 16th Annual Toussaint L’Ouverture Symposium and Small Business Expo is an educational and recreational program that involves discussions about the historical achievements of Toussaint L’Ouverture, a national Icon of Haiti, and his impact on the United States. It is also a celebration of the co-naming of Nostrand Avenue to Toussaint L'Ouverture Blvd that was facilitated by Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz in 2005; and recognition of business and community leaders who are dedicated to service and/ or exhibit the L’Ouverturian principle emphasizing the importance of civics and economics as means to empowerment; and finally, a small business expo that enables participants to network with each other.
