• Karen Miga, Director, Assistant Professor in the Biomolecular Engineering Department at UCSC and Associate Director at the UCSC Genomics Institute

• Sharon Peacock, Professor of Public Health and Microbiology in the Department of Medicine, University of Cambridge, and Executive Director and Chair of the COVID-19 Genomics UK (COG-UK) consortium.

• Jurgen Richt, Director Center of Excellence for Emerging and Zoonotic Animal Diseases (CEEZAD) and Director NIH COBRE Center on Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases (CEZID).

Areas to be emphasized include, but are not limited to the following:

Genome Sequencing:

- Sequencing strategies and technology advancements using the various NGS platforms

- De novo sequencing, re-sequencing, Human seq., RNA seq., metagenomics, etc.

- Sequencing applications for Single Cell, Metagenomics, Transcriptomics, Diagnostics, and Biosurveillance

Genome Assembly:

- De novo assemblers for short reads, hybrid assemblers

- Recalling and calibrating genome assemblies

- Single cell and metagenomic assemblies

Genome Analysis:

- Comparative genomics, re-sequencing, SNPs, structural variation

- Large scale data management, cloud computing

- Analysis for Forensics, Metagenomics, and Antimicrobial Resistance

Applications of NGS:

- Bringing sequence to the clinic (i.e. diagnostics, cancer, inherited disorders)

- Human, non-human, and infectious disease applications

- Gene Editing, Synthetic Genomics, Forensics, Biosurveillance, and Cyberbiosecurity

- AgriGenomics, Livestock Genomics, Plant Genomics

- Global engagement and Partnerships

The conference is being sponsored by some of our favorite genomics & sequencing vendors and is hosted by Los Alamos National Laboratory, thus no registration fee will be charged for general registration this year. Breakfast, lunch and snacks will be provided each day at no additional costs. A block of rooms (SFAF) has been held at the La Fonda at a special conference rate of $133 per night.
