Event description

Description

This adaptation of the book entitled Rank and file by Alice Lynd, chronicles the American labor movement in the 1930's. It relates the personal experiences of three militant women who tried to organize laborers in Chicago during this period. The women recall the days of the first sitdowns, going to their first union meeting, organizing the CIO in the Chicago stockyards and facing police shotguns to fight evictions of unemployed workers. Archival footage, stills, and labor music from the 30s and 40s complete this account.
