CAIC expands its popular Lieder Lounge series to four concerts this season, featuring San Francisco Opera star and Ryan Opera Center alumnus bass-baritone Christian Van Horn, Grammy Award winning baritone Daniel Teadt, current Ryan Opera Center artists soprano Ann Toomey  and Jesse Donner, and Chicago-based pianists Doug Peck, Craig Terry, and CAIC co-founder Shannon McGinnis.

CAIC’s Lieder Loungeseries showcases rising stars performing programs of songs in intimate recital settings. CAIC will present a Summer Lieder Lounge in partnership with the Patrick G. and Shirley W. Ryan Opera Center at Pianoforte on August 13, 2016, featuring current Ryan Opera Center artists soprano Ann Toomey and tenor Jesse Donner.  CAIC’s Fall Lieder Lounge, There’s Something about Mary, will be a program of various cabaret and art song settings that examine two biblical Mary’s, the Virgin Mary and Mary Magdalene.  Held at Pianoforte on October 27, 2016, the Fall Lieder Lounge will be curated and hosted by six time Joseph Jefferson Award winning Chicago-based pianist and conductor, Doug Peck.  Presented in partnership with the Logan Center for the Arts, the Winter Lieder Lounge will feature Ryan Opera Center alumnus, bass-baritone Christian Van Horn the Logan Center Performance Penthouse on February 25, 2016.  The star bass-baritone will perform a salon recital with Ryan Opera Center music director, Craig Terry in between performances of Escamillo in Bizet’s Carmen at the Lyric Opera of Chicago, in which he will be performing the role of Escamillo. The series will finish on April 23, 2016 with a Spring Lieder Lounge held at Pianoforte featuring Grammy Award winning baritone Daniel Teadt with CAIC co-founder and director of education, Shannon McGinnis.

Committed to providing educational opportunities for young professional singers and pianists in the art song and vocal chamber music repertoire, CAIC will again present an annual Winter Master Class led by acclaimed collaborative pianist Martin Katz, and a Spring Workshop, the details of which will be announced at a later date.
