Share 15th Annual Rehabilitation Nurses Conference

Event Details

This conference is designed for Rehabilitation Nurses and interested allied health care professionals working in Acute Rehabilitation, Transitional Care Units, and Nursing Homes.

The focus of this conference is to increase the practitioner's awareness of complications, barriers, and disturbances to the healing process in rehabilitation health care and to support the continued growth of attendees’ knowledge and expertise to innovatively overcome those barriers in the specialty of rehabilitation nursing.

CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of the conference, through lectures, hands-on, and exhibits, participants should be able to:

  • Discuss use of evidence-based cognitive retraining strategies in persons with cognitive impairment due to neurologic injury
  • Discuss the implications of cognitive impairments on patient’s ability to manage diabetic medications                 
  • Identify 2 types of technology that allows greater access to landline telephone for patients with limited mobility
  • Identify current treatments for brain tumors that are resulting in positive outcomes
  • Compare and contrast the differences between spasticity, clonus and muscle tightness and its implication in nursing practice.
  • Discuss the application of music therapy to improve physical mobility in rehabilitation patients.
  • Discuss one way to implement risk reduction interventions when caring for older adults with spinal cord injuries.
  • Discuss possible interventions for agitated behavior during TBI rehabilitation.
  • Discuss the importance of individualized approach to rehabilitation for each amputee who uses a prosthetic
