Designed For:
Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Pharmacists, Nurses, Public Health Officials, Fellows, Residents, Students, and Other Interested Healthcare Professionals

Purpose:

To bring together individuals from Nebraska and surrounding States who are interested in promoting optimal immunization levels that will eliminate vaccine preventable diseases throughout the lifespan of all persons.

Objectives:

  • Discuss the clinical efficacy and effectiveness of the latest recommended vaccines for children and adolescents
  • Identify, describe and assess the potential effectiveness of strategies and interventions to respond to issues of vaccine hesitancy
  • Discuss recommended immunization schedules for adults, vaccination resources, and screening for contraindications and precautions to vaccination
  • Explain the elements of a standing order, routinely recommended templates, and steps to implement standing orders for immunization in the primary care setting
  • Discuss, network and view poster presentations of current and future recommendations for childhood and adult immunization
  • Describe current clinical guidelines for vaccination during pregnancy and review evidence-based strategies for the implementation of maternal immunization recommendations
  • Examine key issues, safety concerns and questions regarding vaccines in the United States
  • Examine the prevalence and epidemiologic evidence in the role of the human papillomavirus (HPV) in head and neck cancers and review known clinical indications for HPV vaccination
  • Discuss the benefits and importance of reporting to the Nebraska State Immunization Information System (NESIIS)
  • Explain eligibility requirements for immunization programs managed by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services Immunization Program
  • Describe the four components of AFIX (Assessment, Feedback, Incentives and eXchange), the quality improvement program developed to improve immunization service delivery
  • Assess the benefits and advantages of using an educational game to highlight a variety of vaccine-related questions and answers to increase vaccination knowledge and improve communication technologies on immunization promotion
  • Discuss evidence-based strategies for developing effective community-wide HPV vaccination rates
  • Discover techniques of clinics that achieve higher vaccination rates
  • Describe public health initiatives and strategic goals of Teen Immunization Education Service (TIES), a multi-disciplinary collaboration specific for Douglas County Health Department
  • Identify educational interventions to improve adolescent vaccination
  • Discuss interventions, challenges and outcomes of college student HPV vaccination
