14th Annual Down East Spring Birding Festival
Fri, May 26, 2017, 11:00 AM – Mon, May 29, 2017, 2:00 PM EDT
Join us over Memorial Day Weekend in Down East Maine's beautiful Cobscook Bay Area for a unique birding experience during spring migration and the breeding season. The Festival offers four days of guided hikes, boat tours, and presentations with experienced local guides. Our great variety of habitats are home to a great diversity of species -- boreal and northern hardwood forests, bogs, fresh- and salt-water marshes, grassy and shrubby fields, streams and lakes, steep rugged headlands, extensive tidal flats, and coastal islands. Bird in Moosehorn National Wildlife Refuge, Roosevelt Campobello International Park, Quoddy Head State Park, Machias Seal Island (Atlantic Puffin nesting grounds), and more! Come see why eastern coastal Maine has been identified as "one of the important bird areas in the US" by the American Bird Conservancy, and why the Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife has named the Down East Spring Birding Festival one of the best in the country.

Tips for Registering:
We recommend pulling up the Festival Schedule in a separate tab, if you'd like to reference event descriptions while you're registering.
Events with Additional Fees: Most events on the schedule are included with your registration fee; however, a few of the events have an additional fee (the boat trips, the all-day van trip, the dinner events, and the Burn Road hike). On the main registration page, these events are listed BOTH in the drop-down menus for each day, AND at the bottom, with photos, as "Additional Items" - in order to get your name on the list, as well as add the cost of those events to your registration total, you need to be sure to select them in both places! Thanks!
Waiting Lists for Full Events: Most of the birding trips are limited to a certain number of participants. If the event you want is full, please call Jeanne Guisinger at 207-733-2233, ext 330, to be placed on a wait list. We will contact you if space becomes available!
FREE Events at Festival HQ: In addition to the birding trips around the region, there are presentations, film screenings, and exhibits at Festival Headquarters at the Cobscook Community Learning Center in Trescott. These events at Festival HQ don't require signing up ahead of time, so anytime you're not out birding you're welcome to come by!
How can I contact the organizer with any questions?
Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call 207-733-2233 and ask for Jeanne (ext 330) or Avery (ext 321).
What's the refund policy?
A full refund of festival fees paid will be made for cancellations before May 1st.
50% refund for cancellations received between May 1st and May 10th.
No refund will be given for boat trip cancellations after May 1st.
No refund will be given for cancellations after May 10th.
Can I update my registration information?
Yes! Follow the instructions you will receive in your confirmation email, and you should be able to login to your order on Eventbrite and make changes yourself easily.
Please make any needed changes to your registration by May 1st (i.e. you can only make 2 days of the Festival instead of the whole weekend; or you've decided to choose a different hike one day, etc).
If you register after May 1st and need to make a change in your registration, please call Jeanne Guisinger at 207-733-2233, ext 330.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Nope! Just check in at the registration area of Festival Headquarters as soon as you arrive - give us your name, and we'll have a name badge and folder (with the program and local birding info, as well as a list of the events you signed up for) all ready to go to hand to you.
