Welcome to the 14th All China Nash Hash 2015 (ACNH2015) hosted by the Hangzhou Hash House Harriers (HZH3 / HHHH).

We promise you 3 days of fun filled and action packed Hashing in and around the beautiful city of Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, in eastern China from 22 - 24 May 2015.

Hangzhou is famous for amazing sights including: West Lake, the Longjing (Dragon Well) tea fields, the Grand Canal, Leifeng Pagoda, Six Harmonies Pagoda, Lingyin Temple, the Qiantang River tidal bore, the China National Silk and Tea Museums, the "Impressions West Lake" musical by Zhang Yimou, etc. In addition, every year Hangzhou plays host to several mountain running and trail running events and Hangzhou is one of the few large Chinese cities with easy, inner-city access to good hiking trails.

We will make sure that you get to enjoy as much of the wonderful Hangzhou scenery as possible.

Furthermore, Hangzhou is very close to other places of interest such as the vibrant and historic cities of Shanghai, Suzhou and Nanjing. You can also easily visit the spectacular Yellow Mountain (Huang Shan), the serene bamboo forests of Anji (where scenes for the movie "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" were filmed) and the peaceful, secluded resorts and retreats in Moganshan.

As the central Nash Hash hotel, the Grand Metropark Hotel will be the place to check-in for the ACNH2015 and collect your event package on Friday afternoon, 22 May 2015. Check-in will open at about midday (TBA). We will also have the Friday evening post-Hash Circle and Bash here.

The Grand Metro Park is on the east side of West Lake, which is only about a 20 minute walk away. The hotel is about a 45 minute taxi ride from the Hangzhou Xiaoshan Airport. At least one of the Hangzhou Airport shuttle buses stops right outside the hotel as well. It is a 20 minute walk from the Hangzhou Train Station. And about a 30 minute taxi ride from the new Hangzhou East Train Station. It is just a 5 minute walk to the Hangzhou Wushan Night Market and only a 10 minute walk to the Yan'An Road shopping precinct.

2a. Change of day/date to Saturday, 23 May for the (optional extra) Rusty Man Challenge

For all the Rusty Men and Women out there who have ticked the (optional extra) Rusty Man Challenge box on your ACNH2015 registration form already, or those who are considering doing so, for quite predictable reasons (e.g. not enough time for it on Sunday, 24 May...), we have had to change the date to Saturday, 23 May.

As this is an optional extra activity held during the ACNH2015 event we fully expect all Rusty Men and Women to follow up (not throw up or follow through...) and do a scheduled ACNH2015 Nash Hash run or walk on Saturday afternoon.

This will be the 3rd annual running of the Rusty Man Challenge in conjunction with the All China Nash Hash. The tradition continues!!!

2b. "Fullish Moon" Hash (optional extra) for early arrivers Thursday, 21 May, 8.30pm (TBC)

As a special bonus optional extra activity for ACNH2015 Nash Hash early arrivers, the HZH3 and HZ Full Moon Hash will be organising a "Fullish Moon" Hash event on Thursday, 21 May, meeting at 8.30pm (time still to be finally confirmed...).

Full disclosure... Full Moon... or any Moon TBH... not guaranteed... However, rest assured that cold beers are guaranteed! As always, Hashers are free to supply/display their own moons during the event! ;)

We'll conduct a survey of Nash Hashers a couple of weeks before the ACNH2015 begins to get an exact idea of how many people will be participating. So, for now, just mark your calendarsand consider the option and stay tuned for details about that survey at the beginning of May.

After a long (too long!), rigorous (my arse!) and painstaking (pffft!) drafting period, we have decided on what might (possibly) be the final version of our ACNH2015 event logo…

There are at least 8 thematic icons of Hangzhou included in the central picture (excluding the Hashers). Can you identify all of them? :)

The main illustration was designed by our HZH3 Religious Adviser, Roomboy.

Plus, we owe a big thanks to Dazed&Confused from the Beijing H3 for many improvements in this final revision!

FAQs

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

No. The Hangzhou ACNH2015 activities and events should be (mostly) rated PG13... Obviously, it goes without saying that alcohol will be available in many aspects of ACNH2015. Parents / Guardians are responsible for supervising their own children / dependents at all times.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

Details about transfers from the Hangzhou Xiaoshan Airport, Shanghai Pudong, Shanghai Hongqiao Airport and Hangzhou and Shanghai train and bus stations will be published at a later date.

Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

Your overall registration in ACNH2015 is non-refundable. However, you can transfer your registration to another person. This is entirely your own responsibility and the organisers of the ACNH2015 will not facilitate the transfer. After you have sold or given away your tickets, please contact us to give us the details of the new ticket holder so as to avoid complications for that person at the ACNH2015 event. NOTE: It will be considered very poor form if you attempt to make a profit in such a transaction! There may be Hashpercussions in such a situation...

Can I update my registration information?

Yes. We understand that you may wish to change the specific events you do on each day of the ACNH2015. Naturally, we also want to try to have accurate numbers recorded for each event. You can go back to the ACNH2015 event website to edit your own information.

What is the refund policy?

Once your ACNH2015 registration has been processed and you have paid the appropriate Registration Fee, then no refunds will be granted. However, you may choose to sell your ticket. See "Is my registration/ticket transferrable?" above in the FAQs.

Questions about travel visas for entry to China

NOTE: The ACNH2015 organisers do NOT guarantee the info on this site (or the info in the links provided) is correct or up to date - you should consult a Chinese embassy or consulate for accurate info. Here is a link to Wikipedia info on the "Visa policy of China" (click link).

1. If I am not a resident of China, will I need an entry visa to enter China?

2. Can the ACNH2015 organisers help me to apply for an entry visa?

3. Does Hangzhou have a 72 hour visa-free transit policy like some other Chinese cities?

4. Would it be feasible to use Shanghai's 72 hour visa-free transit policy in order to participate in the 3-day ACNH2015 event?

1. Yes. You will almost certainly need to apply for and obtain a visa for entry into China prior to arriving at a Chinese airport (or train station). We strongly recommend that you research the process for applying for a visa to China from your home country early. See some other general info on Chinese visas here (click link).

You should also apply for your China entry visa as early as the visa conditions allow. Remember that 2 weeks after the ACNH2015 event there is an unfortunate anniversary in China and it is possible that the Chinese Government may be stricter about visa processing in the weeks or months leading up to that date.

2. No. All responsibility for researching and applying for a tourist (or other) visa to enter China to participate in the 3-day ACNH2015 event rests with you. You will probably need an out-going flight (or train) ticket. You will probably also need to know the name and address of the hotel (or private residence) at which you plan to stay during ACNH2015. Ask your hotel (or friends) to assist you in translating the address into Chinese, if required. If you stay at a private residence, then be aware that you should register with the local police office (派出所 PaiChuSuo) within 24 hours of your arrival (that's the letter of the law, anyway...).

3. UPDATE!!! 20 Oct 2014 - Hangzhou now has a 72 hour visa-free transit facility as of 20 Oct 2014.

Nevertheless, it might still be difficult for you to participate fully in all ACNH2015 activities within the time period permitted by the 72 hour time limit and allowing time for transport to and from the airport, etc. Naturally, there are penalties for exceeding the time limit. In fact, the 72 hours begins at midnight on the day you arrive. So, you could arrive at, say, midday on Thursday, 21 May 2015 and then depart as late as midnight on Sunday, 24 May 2015.

Furthermore, remember, wherever it is currently available in China, that this is a transit facility. i.e. You need to be transiting through 3 different airports (or sea ports...?) in 3 different countries A -> B -> C where B would be Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport.

No. Hangzhou does not currently have such a 72 hour visa-free transit policy. See some info about which Chinese cities currently have such a policy here (click link). NOTE: The Hangzhou Government is currently applying for the 72 hour visa-free transit facility with the Chinese Government. However, it is not expected that this facility will become available during 2015. See some info on this situation for Hangzhou here (click link).

4. No. As far as we are aware, you would not be able to use Shanghai's 72 hour visa-free transit facility to participate in the 3-day ACNH2015 event. The requirements of the Shanghai 72 hour visa-free transit facility prevent you from leaving Shanghai without applying for a tourist (or other?) visa at a Shanghai Public Security Bureau (PSB) office. FYI, Shanghai is 1+ hours away from Hangzhou by bullet train. There are also Shanghai PuDong Airport and Shanghai HongQiao Airport buses going to downtown Hangzhou. We will be adding a much more detailed ACNH2015 transport information guide at a later date. If you have any questions about transport in the meantime, then please contact us.
