Event description

Description

TREES FOR LIFE is a tradition of distributing trees in memory of each Louisiana child who has died the prior year as a result of abuse. This year, trees will be given to recipients who are asked to plant, and nurture the trees. The recipients hang blue ribbons on the trees each April in remembrance of the children who have died as a result of abuse in Louisiana.

At the event, community members gather to honor these children and make a commitment to implement prevention strategies that will strengthen families and prevent future harm to children. Trees for life began in 2006 after Hurricane Katrina, honoring the innocent lives lost due to abuse, while giving new life to our storm-devastated community. 430 Trees for Life have been planted since 2006.
