The judges decided to make a unique bench ruling for the Veteran Program of the Year award, naming two JPMorganChase & Co. sponsored programs the winners, demonstrating the power of both creating and embracing a veteran talent pool.
New Skills for a New Fight, a program of the Florida Center for Cybersecurity at the University of South Florida, is a pilot cybersecurity training and certification program that focuses on preparing veterans for a specific, high-demand job role. This intensive 40-week, full-time, on-campus program offers free tuition, fees, books and certification vouchers. By leveraging the Center’s partnerships with Florida’s state universities and military installations, New Skills for a New Fight provides a model for increasing the pipeline of cyber talent on a statewide level and beyond. The program was founded in 2014 through a grant from JPMorganChase & Co. VETS (Voices for Employees that Served), a program of JPMorganChase & Co., is an inclusive group of employees who voluntarily work together to highlight the importance of the military and Veteran communities to JPMorgan Chase. VETS members of the Tampa Chapter engage in community outreach programs and collaborate with the JPMorgan Chase Office of Military and Veterans Affairs (MVA) to support and advocate the Veteran Jobs Mission, Chase Home Award Program, community events and ongoing employee education and mentoring initiatives. The MVA was established in 2011 to drive firm-wide Veteran-focused efforts around employment and training, empowering Veteran small business ownership and improving the financial security of our Veterans, service members and their families.
