Event description

Description

Pacific University's Center for Gender Equity and The American Association of University Women invite girls ages 12 through 15 to a one-day seminar to discuss diverse issues important to girls’ future and a well-rounded education. The thirteenth-annual Girls Today Conference is designed to provide girls an opportunity to speak and be heard with the aid of trained facilitators. Public schools will not hold classes on Oct. 13 because of a statewide teacher-training day.

The summit will include an opening session, a forum about college, small group sessions on specific issues facilitated by students from Pacific’s School of Professional Psychology, a self-defense workshop, campus tour, and a free Girls Today t-shirt for all participants.

Parents Meeting: There will be an optional parents meeting at which the coordinator of the psychology team will talk about the need for and benefits of conferences such at Girls Today and explain the events taking place during the day: 8:45 to 9:30, Old College Hall, 2043 College Way, Forest Grove, Oregon.

Online registration begins September 14 and will close on October 12th at 8:00 am.
