Event description

Description

Join President Kiss for a morning of exercise and fellowship while hiking the world's largest exposed granite monolith!

Each Fall, President Kiss leads a group of students on a hike to the top of Stone Mountain.

In her 12th and final year, President Kiss invites Scotties to "engage in the intellectual and social challenges of their times" with our annual hike to Stone Mountain. Around the country, important conversations about America's complex racial history abound. Stone Mountain Park has been the site of much recent conversation as it has been both a memorial to Confederate soldiers, a symbol of racism, and a popular park featuring multicultural events and programs. This year's hike with President Kiss will include a historical expert.

The Bus will depart from the front loop at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 23. We will have a box lunch after the hike and return to campus before 2 pm.

This year's hike with President Kiss will include an important reflection as part of a collaboration between the Center for Student Involvement and the Gay Johnson McDougall Center for Global Diversity and Inclusion.
