Event description

Description

Join 10,000 dancers, 80+ Unique styles of dance. 150+ groups come together to participate in this "movement" of dance! This United Nations of dance presents ballet to breakdance and everything in between.

Dance Parade is a non-profit orgnaization that advocates the health and cultural benefits of dance. In 2007 we began this event in protest of New York City's 1926 Cabaret License Law that required venues to have a dancing license. Your voices, your grassroots advocacy and your dance was seen & heard--The law was abolished last year and we will celebrate under the theme "The Cabaret of Life" to remind all the importance of the arts in everyday life.

This is a participatory parade and we ask that everyone dances.

Dancing as an invidivual with a group is free but you must register to participate. Any donation is greatly appreciated and goes to offset the significant marketing and production costs.

Leading up to the parade, stay informed through our e-newseltter STEPS!. Dress festive and come out Saturday May 19th starting at 1pm. The parade ends in Tompkins Squrae park where DanceFest on 5 stages begins from 3 to 7pm - Take a dance lesson, watch a performance or join the dance party -- Make this your Cabaret of Life!
