DESCRIPTION

In an effort to help build stronger communities and to promote social unity, Brooklyn Center for Quality Life, 67th Precinct Clergy Council and Mt. Zion Church of God (7th Day) have partnered with churches, elected officials, government agencies, businesses and scores of community organizations for the 11th Annual Brooklyn Community Week (August 20-26, 2018).

Wednesday, August 22, 6:30PM:: 700 Credit Score Club with Operation Hope is bringing this workshop designed to improve your credit scores to be above 700. Your credit score is used by financial institutes when making decisions about your loan or mortgage application, and influence how high of a percentage you have to pay on that loan. By improving our credit scores to be above 700, we are making ourselves more financially strong. With the help of Operation Hope, you will learn what makes up a credit score, what your personal score is, what may be negatively impacting your score, and how to improve it. Join us and learn how to raise your score. Mt. Zion Church of God 7th Day, 203 E 37th Street, (Btw Church Ave/Linden Blvd) Brooklyn, NY 11203.

Thursday, August 24, 6pm:: Reducing Gun Violence Summit: Families With Usolved Homicide Cases: A Discussion, is an open community dialogue hosted by The 67th Precinct Clergy Council and various anti-violence organizations. Its objective is to reduce neighborhood tensions as well as the volume and magnitude of conflict and violence; reverse community decay and juvenile delinquency. It will also offer training in youth leadership and personal responsibility; effective crime prevention. Kings County Hospital, 451 Clarkson Ave, T Building.

Saturday, August 25, 5pm:: Memorial Service & Celebration of Life, our hearts are heavy over the violence we see in NYC and around the country. During this Memorial service, family members will join together in remembering their loved ones who was killed through gun violence. This time will be shared in music, prayers and celebration of life. We are here to support parents and families who lost children and other family members to gun violence. Mt. Zion Church of God 7th Day, 203 E 37th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11203.

Sunday, August 26, 12PM – 5PM:: 37th Street Kids Fair & Family Day is a special community day for children of all ages and the family. BrightPoint Health Dental Van will be onsite for free dental checkup. This will be a fun filled day with lots of free food, school supplies, games, health screenings and activities to keep you on your feet. Every child will receive a backpack filled with school and hygiene supplies. Mt. Zion Church of God 7th Day, 203 E 37th Street, (Btw Church Ave/Linden Blvd) Brooklyn, NY 11203. Daily Pick Up Times with Appointment:: Homeowners Rain Barrel Giveway, the 60-gallon rain barrels are easy to install and connect directly to a property owner’s downspout to capture and store the stormwater that falls on the rooftop. The water collected in the rain barrel can then be used to water lawns and gardens, or for other outdoor chores. Rain barrels should only be used for non-potable purposes, such as gardening, and must be disconnected from the downspout during the winter months to avoid freezing. Please fill out form below and a Team member will contact you with information about pick up procedures. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfj9pyOHbcHaxGAzv1zyp2NfYn6aRIWYYQNMQEU_E_sjIowkg/viewform
