Event description

Description

This 6-hour hands-on sourdough breads workshop will be led by Sandeep Gyawali of Miche Bread and is intended for beginner to intermediate home bakers. Each participant will make 2 very different types of bread from start to finish. Each attendee will use a selection of organic heritage grains milled at Barton Springs Mill to make a custom multigrain boule as well as a 100% rye pan loaf. The breads will be baked in a commercial bread oven, and we will also demonstrate ways to acheive the same quality from a home oven. Everyone will take away 2 loaves of bread, a dough to bake at home the next day, and a sourdough culture. While geared towards beginner bakers, Sandeep will also demonstrate some of the advanced techniques he uses to make his breads extra special.

Barton Springs Mill is creating a local grain revolution by providing fresh stone-milled flours for the community. James Brown will discuss the different heritage grains he carries and the work he's been doing with Texas farmers to build a local grain economy.

BYOB. Snacks will be provided, including a selection of breads and spreads.
