Event Details

Join Child Care Aware of New Hampshire for our first Active Collaborative Training (ACT) Series with regional and statewide experts. Each year, CCAoNH will be providing two ACT Trainings in New Hampshire on topics pertaining to health and safety. We recognize that you are all busy establishing strong emergency preparedness plans, thus, this training year's focus is on topics tied to helping you better plan and prepare for emergencies. This December, the topics will be Bomb Threat (SCAN) and Active Shooter (CRASE). The ACT Training Series will be offered each year in December and February in targeted areas tied to established Emergency Preparedness cohorts, but they are open to all. We invite you to participate and delve deeper into these topics.

Our Morning session will be:

The NH State Police Bomb Squad: Your 24-Hour Guardians
This session will offer a basic description of the NH State Police Bomb Squad’s capabilities and typical tasks. Topics covered will include diagnostic tools, including K9s; bomb threat types and standardized protocols; possible indications of pre-attack planning; suspicious behavior indicators; and basic identification of explosive materials (commercial/military and improvised).

The Afternoon session will be:

Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE)

Failure to act quickly during an active shooter event can leave you in a position to be injured or killed. The faster you decide to take action, the more likely you can save your life and the lives of those around you. Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) Training will help you to more quickly decide to take action by providing a strategy that develops your situational awareness, mental planning, and a common sense approach to surviving an active shooter event. CRASE is a U.S. Department of Justice-Sanctioned training course developed by Texas State University.

We will end the day with a:

Question and Answer Session and a Panel

This section of the day offers participants the opportunity to hear from 3-4 Child Care Programs who participated in the Emergency Operations Planning in Child Care Cohorts. Panelist will speak to their experiences in creating Emergency Operations Plans, drafting their Continuity of Operation Plans and preparation and practice of emergency drills in their program. This is a great opportunity to hear what other programs are doing, barriers when planning, successes of the planning process followed up with the opportunity to ask questions. This is a great way for partipants to walk away with a variety of ideas to use in your own programs.
