Keynote Speaker: Mustafa Santiago Ali, Senior Vice President of Climate, Environmental Justice Community Revitalization for the Hip Hop Caucus; Former Senior Advisor for Environmental Justice and Community Revitalization at U.S. Environmental Protection Agency

Purpose: The goal of the conference will be to increase knowledge, skills, and ability of academia, health professionals and community to address health disparities of environmental issues; ecological environment and built environment, in preventing and improving chronic diseases.

Objectives: At the end of this workshop, the participants should be able to: 

  • Describe "Environmental Justice" and "Environmental Health". 
  • Recognize the different environmental factors that define our communities' health. 
  • Discuss Strategies for developing, implementing, and evaluating environmental improvements. 
  • Recognize the role of individuals in providing environmental justice.

Each professional is responsible for their own certification.

Mental Health & Social Work
The Board of Mental health does not pre-approve continuing education course offerings, but may accept as continuing education for licensure and certification renewal, learning experiences, provided they are planned and conducted for mental health practitioners and if they are related to mental health practice. Continuing education offerings for individuals who hold a social work certificate, but are not licensed as a mental health practitioner, must relate to the practice of social work. Each professional is responsible for their own certification.
