Event description

Description

Join us in celebrating 10 years of heartburn with celebrity guests Doug Sohn (aka Hot Doug), David Eigenberg (of Sex in the City and Chicago Fire), and Maggie Hennessey (food critic for Time Out Chicago). 20+ delicious chilis (including vegetarian), beer from Middle Brow Beer Co, and Black Dog gelato await you. Gather your appetites and your friends for this annual community-building event. All proceeds support Arts of Life's artists' professional development.

Opened in 2000, Arts of Life was the first program in Chicago to provide meaningful vocational opportunities in the arts for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The studio serves as both an alternative day program and creative epicenter for its artists. A second location was opened in Glenview in 2010 at the request of North Shore parents seeking similar revolutionary programming for their children. With an emphasis on visibility, our artists have participated in local and international exhibitions. Funded partly by the Department of Human Services, Arts of Life is proudly supported by The Coleman Foundation, Chicago Community Trust, Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, the Illinois Arts Council, and depends on fundraising efforts such as this to sustain its program.
