100th Running™ Indianapolis 500® Front Porch Parties

In celebration of the 100th Running™ of the Indianapolis 500®, the 100th Running Host Committee is inviting Hoosiers to participate in festivities to foster pride in our state’s signature event. Our goal? To extend the race excitement beyond 16th street into all 92 Indiana counties, uniting residents and igniting the celebration of a century!

WHAT IS A PORCH PARTY?

Porch Parties have become a summer staple in Indianapolis thanks to the hard working staff at the Harrison Center for the Arts. The team has encouraged residents to host porch parties since 2007 and formally since 2014. About 130 people in 10 neighborhoods registered their parties in 2014. In its second year, over 36 Central Indiana neighborhoods participated with even more happening that the center didn’t know about.

The porch party model allows for each neighborhood and community to customize an event to its own needs and desires. It’s simple – register your party, invite your friends and neighbors and celebrate. And of course, your party does not just have to be on your porch. We encourage backyard cookouts and front yard gatherings too!

HOW TO CELEBRATE

1.) Register to host your Porch Party at the green "register" button above*. (recommended)

Host your own Porch Party - on your porch, front lawn, backyard or in your home - to celebrate the 100th Running™ of the Indianapolis 500®! Invite your friends, family, neighbors, or anyone you like. You determine how big or small, and how many people you'd like to attend.

By registering here, the Host Committee is able to keep track of all the celebrations. Your registration is not being publicized; we just want to know you are participating!

If you register to host your event between April 29 - May 29, 2016, you could be eligible for special surprises including appearances from IndyCar drivers, local TV personalities and national celebrities, or other special surprises. You will also be eligible for tickets to the Indianapolis 500 Practice Day events. A member of the committee may reach out to you with more details.

2.) Spread the word about how you are celebrating this momentous event using #PorchPartyIndy! (optional)

Take the excitement beyond your neighborhood and tell your friends and family on social media about your Porch Party. Tweet, facebook, instagram, snapchat, etc. your pictures and all the fun during your Porch Party too. For tips on hosting your porch party, follow the chatter on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/PorchPartyIndy.

3.) Decorate your Porch Party in race day style! (optional)

One-of-a-kind 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500 decorations are on sale here. Proceeds will benefit Snowball Express, a charity that serves the children of our fallen military heroes. By registerting to host a Porch Party, you understand that Porch Party details are subject to change, no fees are required to host a porch party, the 100th Running Host Committee is not funding your porch party, and you may receive information from the following partner organizations: the 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500 Host Committee, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the 500 Festival and the Harrison Center for the Arts. You will be able to opt out of email communications at a later date.

*You are registering to HOST a party. You may invite whoever you'd like (we will not send guests to you). There is no fee and we are not providing any funding for your party.

*We understand this information might change in the coming months. Preliminary information will help the committee gain general data regarding the program and is not meant to be final.

* By voluntarily providing 500 Festival with the information herein, you give 500 Festival permission to contact you, send you promotional and/or other marketing information about products, services, and offerings from 500 Festival and its affiliated companies, sponsors, and promotional partners, and/or share the information that you disclose with 500 Festival’s affiliated companies and other non-affiliated third parties selected by 500 Festival.
