For 100 years, the Kiwanis Club of Wilmington, Delaware has been Changing the World, One Child and One Community at a Time. In 1918 the Club began by providing coal to the less fortunate to heat their homes. A century later their community service has certainly grown to include a variety of projects that improve the welfare and education of children.
Kiwanis Club of Wilmington Club partners with the Operation Warm organization to provide Kids In Need with new warm coats every winter. Our members contribute to The Salvation Army Day Care Center by providing books, and reading with the children. There are eight Kiwanis Key Clubs in area high schools providing leadership experiences and service opportunities for teens. As part of Kiwanis International, the Wilmington Club participates in Project Eliminate to eradicate tetanus infection in infants and expectant mothers.
Since 1979, the Kiwanis Club of Wilmington has also set aside time and resources to quarterly recognize individually named police officers, firefighters and paramedics for their outstanding acts of courage and service to our community.
