Watie White's "100 People" series reflects his passion for social justice to better Omaha's people and his masterful collaborative and creative skills in public art projects. Singer Jocelyn Anderson is one of the White’s featured “100 People.” After the event, join Friends of ART for a casual reception.

WATIE WHITE BIO

Watie White is a painter, printmaker and public artist. His work has been featured in exhibitions at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art (Bentonville, AR), Minneapolis Institute of Art, Museum of Nebraska Art, Joslyn Art Museum, Telfair Museums (Savannah), The Dixon Galleries and Gardens (Memphis) and Mint Museum (Charlotte). Watie has been a featured speaker at Art Expo Chicago, State of the Art Symposium and the Plains Art Museum, and a visiting artist at School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Hastings College, Carleton College and DePaul University. For over a decade Watie has collaborated on public art projects with Omaha non-profits with a social justice mission, including Habitat for Humanity-Omaha, InCommon Community Development, and Justice for Our Neighbors-NE, Omaha Healthy Kids Alliance, Omaha Housing Authority and Omaha Public Schools. His "100 People" series features 100 8-ft tall woodcut portrait murals of Omaha's social justice activitists and advocates.
