The “Excellence in Mentoring Gala” is an event focused on highlighting one of the core objectives of The 100 Black Men of Central Illinois, mentoring, and all the values and benefits that it offers to the community.
Attendees will be able to see how The 100 Black Men of Central Illinois partners with local business and organizations to reach our shared goals of building a better community. Proceeds from this event will support our mentoring, scholarship and community service programs
Keynote speaker: Benjamin Raymond, author, life-coach and mentor whose story has changed the life of millions.
The awards recipients for 2017 are:
Community Icon Award – presented to Willie Brown in recognition of his many years of community commitment, positive guidance and overall impact upon the Bloomington –Normal community.
Excellence in Education – presented to District 87 Schools in recognition of their outstanding efforts in educating, developing and preparing all students for success
Excellence in Economic Empowerment – presented to State Farm Bank in recognition of community outreach and financial literacy workshops.
Excellence in Health & Wellness – presented to the Central Illinois chapter of the Links Inc. in recognition of their breast cancer awareness program known as Taking STEPS (Screening, Treatment, Education Program)
Excellence in Mentoring – presented to the Peoria Carver Center in recognition of their youth guiding programs and the positive impact on the Peoria community
