In partnership with the Mexican General Consulate in Boston, honoring Mexican author, photographer, and screenwriter, Juan Rulfo, 100 years after his birth! This panel discussion features three writers and academics with a particular interest in Latin American culture, including, Adela E. Pineda, Pedro Ángel Palou, and Daniel Chávez. They’ll touch on topics including: global views on El Llano en Llamas, Rulfo as a connoisseur of the Bible, a new theory of the writer’s prose being rooted in oral traditions, filmmakers inspired by Rulfo’s screenplays, and a comparative analysis between Rulfo and other prominent Spanish writers. Join this conversation that offers a new way to approach the mysteries of Rulfo’s fiction and the emotional processes that it triggers.
