ABOUT 1 MILLION CUPS
1 Million Cups is a free, national program designed to educate, engage, and connect entrepreneurs. Developed by the Kauffman Foundation, 1MC is based on the notion that entrepreneurs discover solutions and network over a million cups of coffee. Each meeting begings with a half hour of networking, followed by the actual "program" time from 9a to 10a. During this time we hear from two early-stage startups that have applied online to present their companies to a diverse audience of their peers, mentors, educators, and advisors.
Each presenter is given six minutes to tell their story, followed by a 20 minute question and answer session with the audience. The culture surrounding 1 Million Cups is that of a supportive, neutral space welcoming entrepreneurs to be open and honest about their businesses and the challenges they face and the final question that is posed by the community organizers is always the same: "What can we, as a community, do to help support you, the entrepreneur?"
