Workshop 1

Original Strength - Improve your posture, recover your reflexive strength, regain movement and flexibility

When you were a child, you had an amazingly strong, resilient and healthy body. The body you built through movement during the first several years of your life was meant to be the foundation from which you would continue to add strength, power and resiliency. Your body was meant to be strong, graceful, powerful, fluid, mobile and resilient. You were never meant to be broken, weak, fragile, stiff or injured. You were never meant to just "fall apart" with age. You are supposed to be able to conquer mountains, and even playgrounds, well into your golden years. You are supposed to enjoy this life with vitality. But, many of us do not.

Many of us are just watching life go by. We have lost our way. We have lost our foundation. Our sedentary lifestyles have robbed us of the foundation and the joy of movement that we built as children. Because of this, we have lost our strength, our health, our resiliency and our vitality. Thankfully, we were indeed made to move. Through movement, specific movements, we can regain our foundation of strength, our foundation of health. We can become the strong, powerful, and graceful bodies that we were meant to be.

We can enjoy this life with vitality. We don't have to be spectators, merely existing. We were made for adventure, for life! We can regain our Original Strength - our foundation. We can help our bodies remember how to move again and in doing so, we can become strong, healthy and resilient; like we were meant to be. We invite you to regain the trust and the posture you were always meant to have: A body capable of enjoying life.

About the Speaker:

Constanza Lisdero, Certified ChiRunning®/ChiWalking® Instructor Original Strength Coach L1: “My entire life has been about the outdoors, rock climbing in Patagonia, sailing, hiking and always running. A few years ago I started swimming and became a decent swimmer and even joined a Masters Swimming Team. My running story is that I would run 3 miles 3 times a week and I would be fine.”

Workshop 2

Women & Career – Women Work Life Balance, Women Wellbeing

A successful career is more than just a job! But the cumulative effect of increased working hours is having an important effect on the lifestyle of a huge number of people, which is likely to prove damaging to their well-being. A key way to protect your mental health against the potential detrimental effects of work related stress is to ensure you have a healthy work-life balance.

Work-life balance is a daily effort to make time for family, friends, community participation, spirituality, personal growth, self-care, and other personal activities, in addition to the demands of the workplace.

Compared to men, women are more likely to experience many of the most common mental health disorders, including depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, insomnia and eating disorders.

These conditions have tremendous impact on well-being. Depression is the leading cause of disability worldwide. And while it’s the leading cause among men and women, women and girls are twice as likely to experience it. Although there are multiple social determinants of mental health and well-being, gender is a powerful one.

  • What are the signs of an unhealthy work-life balance?
  • Helping yourself
  • How your workplace can help
  • Resources to help you cope with stress

Workshop 3:

Emotionally Smart

…or how to use the power of emotions

Emotions follow us everywhere! In a business meeting or in a traffic jam! Whether we want them or not, whether we are aware of them or not. They influence our decisions, behaviour, interactions with other people and as a result our everyday life and emotional wellbeing. If you are able to recognize, understand, express, use, and manage emotions you are harnessing their power and using your emotional intelligence to your benefit. During this workshop you will learn and practice techniques on how to handle emotions effectively.

When emotions overwhelm the concentration power, the cognitive mental capacity or "functional memory" is blocked. This makes all other intellectual efforts very complicated (from making a simple sentence to solving a complicated problem). Blocking cognitive mental capacity often makes us act by impulse, make or say uninspired and unhealthy things and damage relations. We can amplify or diminish our emotions. For example, the more we worry about something that has made us angry, the more we find reasons and justifications for being annoyed, and the more we get angry. If we try to look at things from another perspective, we manage to calm down. Rethinking a situation in a positive way is one of the most effective ways to quell anger.
