Whenever I’m asked what my favorite part of working at Eventbrite is, I never hesitate with my answer.  I love witnessing at all the ways in which people gather around their passions. This year we learned how Dan Pierson created Subway Sets after he was inspired by musicians he met on the train, watched the people of New York gather in sub-zero temperatures to welcome Mayor de Blasio into office and witnessed millions of very adventurous people sign up for a Tough Mudder event — the magic of a live experience is real and you know what? Sometimes it straight up gives me goosebumps.

The events mentioned above are just a small piece of all the action. As we gear up for 2014, and take a look back at the growth we’ve seen, here are some stats that capture the excitement of the past year:

  • Total volume processed in 2013: $1 billion
  • Number of tickets sold in 2013: 58 million
  • Tickets scanned in 2013: 8.2 million
  • Number of events: 1 million
  • Number of Eventbrite app downloads in 2013: 2.3 million

We made a little video to look back and reminisce on all of the fun, which you can check out here.

Year in Review

Additionally, for a recap of all of the features we launched last year check out last week’s blog post here.

Needless to say, it was a big year for us, but these stats are really a reflection of the passion, hard work and the ‘Make It Happen Spirit’ of everyone out there who is bringing people together and exploring new interests through events. We love watching you work your magic and we’re honored to be involved.

Here’s to 2014!
