In 2008, SOCAP initially built their own internal registration solution to manage their events. They quickly realized that while an internal online registration tool could process payments, it could not provide attendee management or event reports. In 2010, they moved to a professional tool for their online registration. However, this platform did not address their reporting needs, and they needed to export all of their data and manually manage it in spreadsheets to effectively run their event. What SOCAP needed was an innovative registration platform.
Social Capital Markets is an annual conference event series that connects leading global innovators – investors, foundations, institutions and social entrepreneurs – to build a marketplace at the intersection of money and meaning. After selecting Eventbrite as their online registration tool for their annual 2011 conference, Social Capital Markets saw an increase in registration sales as well as a 25% increase in attendance from the previous year.
SOCAP leveraged Eventbrite’s registration platform to:
- Determine price points to encourage registrants to plan and purchase early.
- Segment their audience to target specific types of attendees through email newsletters as well as adjust their message and outreach based off each attendee category.
- Increase registrations by leveraging Evenbrite’s suite of promotional tools.
- Manage promotions and sales with robust report and analytics.
From 2010 to 2011, overall attendance for the three-day conference increased by 25% to nearly 1,400 attendees. With a firm foundation now in place, Social Capital Markets expanded it’s conference series in 2012, adding four 1-day conferences to complement and lead up to their annual 3-day and 2-day conference events in the fall.
