Biography

YACHT is a dance-pop band from Portland, Oregon. It’s actually a duo consisting of lead vocalist Claire L. Evans, and Jona Bechtolt, a diverse artist who, apart from singing, performs on guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, synthesizer, percussion, piano, and claps.

When touring and performing live, the duo brings in Rob Kieswetter (also known as Bobby Birdman), who complements every performance with his excellent backing vocals, keyboard, and bass guitar.

YACHT has a very unusual name in that it’s an acronym that stands for Young Americans Challenging High Technology. Jona was enrolled in an education program by that name in Portland back in 1996.

The band is known for its eclectic style, blending acoustic percussion, electronics, and various other sounds to create unique music that truly impacts people. They experiment with dance-pop, electropop, synthpop, dance punk, indie rock, and alternative rock, and they also love creating exciting remixes.

What you may not know about Claire is that she’s a true female visionary. Apart from being a powerful singer and a striking on-stage performer, she’s also constantly writing powerful science and technology pieces for various blogs and online magazines.
