The New England Association for Play Therapy, Inc is a branch of the Association for Play Therapy that includes the states of Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.

Our members are mental health professionals who use play therapy in their practices with children, adolescents and families.

Our Mission is to:

Promote the understanding and valuing of play and play therapy.

Promote the effective practice of play therapy through training, research, and support.

Promote the recognition, incorporation, and preservation of diversity in play therapy.

Promote the development and maintenance of a strong professional organization to accomplish these objectives.

We work with many area Universities and Organizations to provide over 100 hours of APT approved Play Therapy instruction annually throughout New England.

We work with APT to support the credentialing and re-credentialing of Registered Play Therapists and Registered Play Therapy-Supervisors as well as to increase the awareness of play therapy in the professional and public realms.

 The Massachusetts Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (MAMFT). 

We are the professional association for the field of marriage and family therapy in the state of Massachusetts and the Massachusetts Division of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT).

We represent the professional interests our members throughout the state of Massachusetts. Since our founding in the 70’s, the MAMFT has been promoting the field of marriage and family therapy as a viable alternative to other traditional methods of providing mental health services.

This is accomplished through public relations campaigns, initiation and promotion of mental health-related legislation, and collaboration and cooperation with other mental health associations and managed care organizations. The MAMFT is currently actively lobbying for the passage of legislation awarding LMFT's in Massachusetts providing added recognition to the validity of our field and to support LMFT”s in their desire to earn a living! 

The MAMFT is a professional organization comprised of highly trained practitioners of mental health. Our members meet rigorous standards for education and training and are held to the highest ethical standards of the profession. Clinical Members have met the highest standards of the profession for education and clinical experience. Associate and Student membership categories are available for therapists in training for clinical practice. Members of allied professions and other persons who are interested in marriage and family therapy are eligible to become Affiliate Members
