Third World Press Foundation
Third World Press initiated the Third World Press Foundation in order to play a more activist role in the literacy and communication aspects of culture in the Black community. TWP Foundation is a 501c(3) organization committed to four major projects: (1) the prison literature program; (2) aiding and building culturally specific libraries at elementary and secondary schools, state and federal prisons, women shelters and halfway houses; (3) we will be in the forefront of supporting literacy programs, supporting writing conferences, seminars and workshops throughout the African American communities and (4) providing resources to teachers and others whose primary goal is the development of literacy throughout the African American community. Our goal is to support the best creative writers, artists and photographers and aid them in the publication and/or exhibits of their work and offering these materials and others to imprisoned men and women at no cost or a minimal cost to them. The TWP Foundation has taken the lead in sponsoring and supporting writing conferences, seminars and workshops locally and nationally. Our programs include: A Prison Literacy Program, Black Writers Retreat, A partnership with Project Sankofa, Black United Readers, Literacy Support Efforts-Jambo, Watoto! The African American Children's Book Club, Kwanzaa Children's Party, the Digital Literacy Alliance and more. You can help TWP Foundation achieve its goal of promoting literacy and intellectual independence for all groups of people by supporting our programs. You can also help by sending your tax-deductible contribution to: Third World Press Foundation P.O. Box 19730 Chicago, IL 60619
