Jan completed her BA and M.Ed. in Elementary Education at the University of Florida and went on to become a teacher in Seminole County. She is available to help families who are just starting out as well as more experienced families who need yearly evaluations.
Jan recommends a balanced approach to homeschooling that provides opportunities for hands-on and "delight-driven" learning. The mother of two encourages parents to keep long-term goals for their children in mind when choosing curriculum. These goals might include a great sense of self and a lifelong love for learning in addition to a strong academic foundation.
Jan has worked with more than 100 families in the area and has written articles on the topic of homeschooling for local and national publications. She homeschooled her own children for a few years before returning to work full-time. She currently serves as a language arts teacher at Page Private School in Sanford.
