Chicago Composers Orchestra
Formed during the summer of 2010 by co-founders and composers Brian Baxter and Randall West, the Chicago Composers Orchestra (CCO) is dedicated to the performance and advocacy of orchestral music by living composers. With a roster filled out by 40 of the hottest young musicians in Chicago, the CCO presents new orchestral music of all shapes and styles. Under the direction of conductor, Matthew Kasper, in its first year the group has premiered works by Marcos Balter, Seth Boustead, Garrett Byrnes, Eric Malmquist, Sarah Ritch, Ben Hjertmann, and others as well as performed works by George Flynn and Andrea Clearfield. CCO has performed at Gottlieb Hall and Ganz Hall. Supported by growing group of volunteer musicians, administrators, and community members the CCO has thrived in its first year and is looking forward to a much anticipated second season.
