University of Strathclyde Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences

As the University’s largest faculty, we contribute to Strathclyde’s reputation as ‘a place of useful learning’ through our undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Education, English, Counselling, Physical Activity, Psychology, Journalism, Creative Writing, Law, Modern Languages, History, Politics and Speech and Language Therapy.

Our Graduate School recruits and supports postgraduate research students within a state of the art study facility in the University’s Lord Hope Building. The Graduate School aims to enhance the interdisciplinary community of researchers through its annual programme of seminars and competitions. It also encourages interaction with research students at EdD, DEdPsych and Mphil levels in order to raise awareness and increase PhD applications.

The Faculty is home to Scotland’s top law school and is one of the largest providers of professional education in Europe. We are committed to enhancing the professions through the quality of our graduates and the research which informs their curriculum along with the policy and practice of the sectors that they enter.

We are leading influencers in policy and legislative research which contributes towards improving services in government, education and healthcare. We develop our research and enhance its accessibility and impact by working closely with public and private sectors while engaging in likeminded research networks and communities that facilitate new partnerships and development opportunities.
